INDONESIA Muslim girls at kindergarten in Banda Aceh which lost many of its children to the tsunami, and has now been rebuilt. The school’s director Halimah Anwar Bustam describes the horrors suffered: "The area the kids came from was completely flattened by the waves. On that fateful Sunday the children were in their homes, or many were already on the beach having fun. So many died that morning. It was devastating. Only now are we getting things back together, and are very grateful to CRS who are helping with the reconstruction of our damaged building. The staff give up a portion of their (already low) salaries to sponsor poor children from the outlying villages to come to our school. The new structure includes offices for staff, a library, prayer room and wheelchair accessible classroom."
