Disaster
INDONESIA Nurmala Nasyria (left) with family and friends, Tsunami survivors of Kampong Belakang Panggong, a low lying village beside the sea in Meulaboh. With newly constructed house. Photograph taken in Meulaboh, Aceh Province mid-December 2006, 2 years after the Tsunami of December 26th 2004 devastated much of the coastal region. Taken to illustrate reconstruction work and projects of CRS (Catholic Relief Services) of USA who sponsored the photo tour. Nurmalla’s testimony: "I lost my mother, older sister and a nephew during the Tsunami. Fortunately my husband survived, he was at sea fishing at the time and simply rode the waves. Most of our men folk were out at sea at the time, and there was no problem for them. It is mostly the womenfolk and children who died during the Tsunami, as they were at home. My husbands side of the family lost 20 people. He is at sea right now, fishing - otherwise thered be no dinner tonight!"
